Karauli / Rajasthan – The Bhadravati River, Karauli’s trademark, is losing its existence due to heaps of garbage and administrative neglect. In light of this, former Karauli MLA Rohini Kumari invited Rajendra Singh, known as India’s Waterman, to the river. Rohini Kumari discussed in detail the conservation of the Bhadravati River along its banks.
Reflecting on the plight of the sacred Bhadravati stream, which has lost its ancient glory due to pollution, Rajendra Singh offered valuable suggestions and was also briefed on his previous work.
Former MLA Rohini Kumari also received information about Rajendra Singh, founder of the Tarun Bharat Sangh (TBS). With the help of the Tarun Bharat Sangh, Rajendra Singh has revived traditional water harvesting methods, particularly johads (small earthen dams), in the arid regions of Rajasthan. His work continues unabated.

To conserve the Bhadravati, Rajendra Singh suggested demarcation of the river, natural filtration, the use of reed beds and natural filtration techniques to prevent sewage from flowing into the river, and the construction of small ponds and anicuts in the Bhadravati’s catchment areas to retain water, ensuring the river’s longevity throughout the year.
Public cooperation with the administration is essential –
The former MLA stated that, along with the administration, we ourselves will also step forward to revive the river. He urged Karauli residents to take up the responsibility of cleaning the river’s ghats and banks through weekly voluntary work. He stated that Bhadravati is not a drain, but the cultural soul of Karauli.
The Bhadravati River has been neglected for many years. It’s vibrant during the rainy season, but gradually becomes polluted as the water dries up. Former Karauli MLA Rohini Kumari spoke with Rajendra Singh, known as the Waterman, and discussed cleaning the Bhadravati River and preserving its water for longer periods. Bhadravati is a very ancient river in Karauli, and holds immense significance.
