Badshah Faces Backlash Over Controversial Song ‘Tateeree’

Tateeree Song : Bollywood singer and rapper Badshah is once again at the center of controversy following the release of his latest song, Tateeree, which has drawn widespread criticism. Released on March 1, 2026, the song features young dancers in school uniforms and includes auto-tuned vocals with lyrics that many have deemed inappropriate.

Haryana Women’s Commission Issues Notice

The backlash escalated quickly, prompting the Haryana State Commission for Women (HSCW) to issue a notice to Badshah. The commission cited complaints regarding the song’s lyrics, which were described as offensive and in violation of cultural boundaries and social decency. HSCW Chairperson Renu Bhatia confirmed that the panel had taken suo moto cognizance of the matter following multiple public complaints.

Minister Mahipal Dhanda Criticizes the Song

Haryana Minister Mahipal Dhanda also reacted strongly to the controversy. Speaking to the media, he labeled the song as “inappropriate” and said it harms the image and cultural heritage of Haryana.

He stated, “Singing of this nature, which tarnishes Haryana’s culture, is unacceptable. The government has taken immediate and strict action. The Chief Minister has ordered prompt action against the accused, and an FIR has been registered. Additionally, the buses shown in the video and their depots are being investigated, and strict action will be taken against the drivers and conductors involved.”

Legal Proceedings Scheduled

According to an official summons issued on March 6, 2026, the case is related to complaints filed against Badshah, whose real name is Aditya Prateek Singh Sisodia. The document, addressed to the Superintendent of Police in Panipat, instructs authorities to ensure the presence of all concerned parties during the hearing.

Public Reaction and Cultural Concerns

The song itself sparked outrage due to its portrayal of schoolgirls dancing and the inclusion of explicit lyrics. In one line, Badshah refers to girls in a manner that many have found offensive, prompting calls for him to recognize his social responsibility as a public figure. The remix also incorporates elements of a traditional Haryanvi folk song, leading to criticism that it disrespects local cultural heritage.

As the controversy grows, authorities and cultural commentators have emphasized the importance of respecting societal norms and protecting the image of the state in media productions.
