Kangana Ranaut : Actress Kangana Ranaut has been granted permission by the Supreme Court to withdraw her petition in the Didda case. The case relates to an FIR filed in Mumbai, in which author Ashish Kaul alleged that Kangana used portions of his book in her film without permission.
Decision in Bombay High Court hearing
During a hearing in the Bombay High Court on Wednesday, Kangana was granted permission to withdraw her petition. An FIR was filed against her at the Khar Police Station in Mumbai in 2021. The FIR alleged that Kangana used certain pages from the author’s book in her film without obtaining permission.
How the Case Started
The controversy began when Kangana, while announcing her film “Manikarnika Returns: The Legend of Didda,” posted on Twitter that she had included portions of Ashish Kaul’s book in the film. The author approached the Magistrate Court alleging the unauthorized use.
The court directed her to file an FIR, following which the police filed a charge sheet against Kangana.
Hindi Translation of the Book and Controversy
A Hindi translation of the book used in Kangana’s controversial film project has now been released. The main issue in this legal battle was whether the material was used in the film without the author’s permission. Following the Supreme Court’s decision, Kangana has gained the right to withdraw the petition.
The legal process in this case is now moving towards completion, and with the actress’s withdrawal of the petition, the political and media concerns surrounding the controversy are expected to gradually subside.
