Karauli (Rajasthan) | The murder of a Jatav youth (Ramveer) in Bhukrawali village, under the Surauth police station in Karauli district, has now escalated. Angered by the incident, the Panch-Patels and hundreds of members of the Jatav community submitted a memorandum to the District Collector on Friday, demanding justice.
The community has issued an ultimatum to the administration that if their demands are not met within the next 24 hours, a violent protest will be launched across the district.
What is the full story?
According to information received, Ramveer Jatav was attacked with intent due to caste hatred under FIR number 73/2026 registered at Surauth police station. The youth succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The community alleges that this is not merely a crime but a deliberate act of caste violence.
The family alleges that the community is being continuously targeted by powerful individuals, and the administration is adopting a lackadaisical approach in this matter.

The community’s 12-point demands:
The Jatav community has placed the following key demands before the Collector:
- Arrest and nomination: The named accused should be immediately arrested, and the name of Shivraj Meena, the leader who protected them, should also be included in the FIR.
- Economic and social justice: The victim’s family should be provided with compensation of ₹50 lakh, a government job for one member, and permanent housing for rehabilitation in Surauth town.
- Security and weapons: The family should be provided with licensed weapons for self-defense, and a permanent/temporary police post should be established in the area.
- Action against encroachment: Illegal encroachments, borewells, and permanent structures on approximately 300 bighas of grazing land should be demolished within 24 hours.
- Impartial investigation: The case should be investigated by a high-level ASP officer under the supervision of the District Superintendent of Police, and the “false” cases filed against the victim’s family should be withdrawn.
Direct warning to the administration:
While submitting the memorandum, the community representatives stated sternly that they had been peacefully awaiting justice, but the administration’s biased attitude was forcing them to take to the streets.
