White Ferns Squad T20 Series: New Zealand have received a major boost ahead of their upcoming five-match T20I series against South Africa, with experienced players Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine returning to the national side. Both cricketers bring valuable experience to the squad as the team begins preparations for a busy international season.
Bates has recovered from a quad injury that had kept her out of recent matches, while Flora Devonshire and Georgia Plimmer have also completed their rehabilitation after dealing with a broken finger and a shoulder issue respectively. With their fitness restored, all three players are now available for selection.
Devine Returns After World Cup Absence
Sophie Devine will make her first appearance for New Zealand since the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup earlier this year. Her return strengthens the batting lineup and adds leadership experience as the team looks to build momentum before the major women’s T20 tournament scheduled to take place in England later this year.
Series Set to Begin in Mount Maunganui
The five-match T20I series will begin on March 15 at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui. The contest is expected to provide both teams with a strong opportunity to test combinations and prepare for upcoming global competitions.
Squad Rotation Planned
New Zealand selectors have included 15 players in the squad and planned a rotation strategy during the series. Bree Illing and Polly Inglis will be part of the team for the first two matches. After that, Lea Tahuhu and Flora Devonshire will join the squad for the final three games as part of workload management.
