Hindaun City (Suroth), Karauli: Nearly 16 hours after the murder of Dalit youth Ramveer Jatav in Bhukrawali village of Karauli district, his body was cremated late Saturday night under police protection. It is reported that the cremation took place at around 3 a.m. Saturday night with the family’s consent.
After persuasion by Superintendent of Police Lokesh Sonwal, the family agreed. Meanwhile, the police have taken a tough stand against the absconding accused in the case and have announced a reward of 10,000 rupees each for the arrest of 10 accused.
These accused include Maharaj Singh, Govind, Hariram, Shivkesh, Nahar Singh, Vikas, Bhojraj, Neeraj, Ankit, and Ankur Meena, residents of Bhukrawali. Twelve police teams are continuously conducting raids at various locations in search of the accused.
It is noteworthy that Ramveer Jatav was seriously injured in a fight over a land dispute on March 4th and died while undergoing treatment in Jaipur on March 6th. After this, the family members and the people of Jatav community protested for 11-point demands including the arrest of the accused and also blocked the Surauth-Bhukrawali road for about 6 hours.
