Salt, Kohli and Patidar Lead the Charge
RCB got off to a flying start thanks to Phil Salt, who smashed 78 runs off just 36 balls, including six fours and six sixes. He was well supported by Virat Kohli, who scored a composed 50 off 38 deliveries. The duo stitched together a crucial 120-run opening partnership.
Captain Rajat Patidar then took charge in the middle overs, hammering 53 runs off just 20 balls with four boundaries and five sixes. Tim David added the finishing touch with an unbeaten 34, pushing RCB to a commanding total.
For Mumbai Indians, Shardul Thakur, Hardik Pandya, Mitchell Santner, and Trent Boult picked up one wicket each, but none could contain the aggressive batting display.
MI’s Chase Falls Short Despite Late Fight
Mumbai Indians began their chase on a steady note, but suffered an early setback when Rohit Sharma retired hurt in the sixth over due to a right hamstring issue after scoring 19 runs.
Ryan Rickelton (37 off 22) and Suryakumar Yadav (33 off 22) kept MI in the hunt, but Tilak Varma was dismissed for just 1 run. Hardik Pandya played a quick knock of 40 off 22 balls, but his departure slowed the momentum.
Sherfane Rutherford fought till the end with an unbeaten 71 off 31 balls, but MI could only manage 222/5 in 20 overs, falling short by 18 runs.
RCB Bowlers Hold Their Nerve
Suyash Sharma was the pick of the bowlers for RCB with two wickets, while Trent Boult, Shardul Thakur, and Rasikh Salam chipped in with one wicket each to keep MI under pressure.
Mumbai Slip to Third Straight Defeat
This loss marked Mumbai Indians’ third consecutive defeat this season. They have managed just one win in four matches so far. On the other hand, RCB registered their third win of the season, with only one loss to their name, continuing their strong run in IPL 2026.
