Delhi: LPG Shortage Raises Concerns for Restaurants and Caterers

New Delhi, India : A shortage of commercial LPG cylinders is starting to affect several parts of Delhi, raising concerns among restaurant owners, hotel operators, and gas agencies. The situation has reportedly emerged amid disruptions in imported gas supplies linked to escalating tensions in West Asia.

Due to delays in supply and limited availability, the delivery of LPG cylinders has slowed in multiple areas. Businesses that rely heavily on LPG – particularly hotels, eateries, and catering services – are finding it increasingly difficult to maintain regular operations. The shortage has also started to inconvenience households and small businesses that depend on timely gas deliveries.

Wedding Season Adds to the Pressure

The timing of the shortage has added to the worries of many families and business owners. With the wedding season underway across several parts of the country, caterers and banquet operators fear that continued supply issues could disrupt planned events. If the situation does not improve soon, some functions may face logistical challenges due to the lack of cooking fuel.

AAP Criticizes the Central Government

Amid the growing concerns, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has strongly criticized the central government. Party’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal alleged that LPG availability across the country has dropped significantly and claimed that several industries dependent on LPG have already been forced to shut down.

According to him, reduced production and supply constraints have led to the closure of factories in some sectors, potentially affecting employment for many workers.

Political Allegations Over Energy Management

Kejriwal also accused the central government of mishandling the energy situation and putting the country in a difficult position. In his remarks, he suggested that the current leadership is not taking strong enough decisions to safeguard national interests.

His comments also included criticism of the government’s international stance, with claims that India’s leadership appears to be under external pressure.

Supply Situation Under Watch

While political reactions continue, businesses and consumers are closely watching how authorities address the supply challenges. Industry representatives say that improving the availability of LPG cylinders and stabilizing supply chains will be essential to prevent further disruption in the hospitality sector and other LPG-dependent industries.
