Bollywood: After making a mark as a versatile performer in films like Article 15, Jolly LLB 2, Fan, and Parched, actress Sayani Gupta is now taking a significant step forward in her journey. She has officially entered the world of production by launching her own banner, Sayani Gupta Movies (SGM).

Driven by a Passion for Storytelling

Having spent over a decade working across films and streaming platforms, Sayani says her move into production comes from a deeper desire to be more involved in storytelling. According to her, acting gave her a voice, but producing will allow her to shape narratives from the ground up.

A Vision Built on Quality and Collaboration

Sayani describes this venture as a long-held dream. Her goal is to create a creative space where collaboration feels natural and stories are told with honesty. Rather than rushing multiple projects, SGM plans to move forward steadily – focusing on one film at a time. She emphasizes that strong writing, artistic integrity, and meaningful storytelling will remain at the core of every project.

‘Aasmani’ Marks the Beginning

The production house’s first project is a short film titled Aasmani. The film features actors Revathi, Daria Bedi, and Abhay Kaul in key roles. Notably, Sayani has taken on multiple responsibilities for this project – she has written, directed, and produced the film herself, making it her first fully independent production.

From Co-Productions to Full Control

Before launching SGM, Sayani had co-produced several projects, including Where the Winds Blow, Upar Neeche, Dear Men, and the Oscar-qualified short film Shameless. However, Aasmani stands apart as her first project where she holds complete creative control.

A Journey Rooted in Personal Connection

For Aasmani, Sayani spent over a year scouting locations across Maharashtra before choosing Pune as the base. The city holds emotional value for her due to her association with the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), where she once studied.

With this new beginning, Sayani Gupta is not just expanding her career but also carving out a space for stories she truly believes in – one project at a time.
