Despite this change, Ajinkya Rahane will continue to lead the side as captain.

Rinku has been part of KKR since making his IPL debut in 2018 and has steadily evolved into one of the team’s most dependable players. His elevation to vice-captain reflects his importance within the squad and hints that he could be seen as a future captaincy option.
Government Appointment Adds to Recognition
Recently, Rinku Singh was also appointed as a Regional Sports Officer by the Uttar Pradesh government. However, due to his IPL commitments, he has not yet collected the official appointment letter.
Salary Growth and Career Highlights
Rinku’s IPL journey has been a mix of ups and downs financially. He was initially bought for ₹80 lakh in 2018 and remained at the same price until 2021.A standout moment in his career came when he smashed five consecutive sixes in an over against Yash Dayal, bringing him massive attention.
Interestingly, despite the fame, his salary dropped to ₹55 lakh between 2022 and 2024. However, KKR showed strong faith in him by retaining him for ₹13 crore ahead of the previous season—a price he continues to command in IPL 2026.
KKR’s Opening Match Schedule
The Indian Premier League 2026 kicks off on March 28. KKR will play their first match on March 29 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM.
