New Delhi : Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, the Indian government has stepped up its monitoring of the situation. On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a crucial meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to assess the evolving crisis and its potential impact on India.

Top Ministers Attend Strategic Meeting

The high-level meeting, held at the Prime Minister’s residence, was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, along with other senior officials.

Discussions focused on the ongoing conflict in West Asia and its global as well as domestic implications.

Focus on Energy and Essential Supplies

According to sources, the CCS reviewed the availability and uninterrupted supply of key resources such as PNG and LPG. The meeting also assessed fertilizer stocks and explored strategies to deal with any potential disruptions caused by the conflict.Ensuring that essential services remain unaffected was a top priority.

PM Calls Situation ‘Challenging’

In a recent address during his radio programme Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Modi described the situation as “challenging” and urged citizens to remain united.

He also cautioned against spreading misinformation and politicizing the issue, emphasizing collective responsibility during such times.

Strait of Hormuz Raises Concerns

Tensions around the Strait of Hormuz have further heightened concerns. The strategic waterway is a critical route for global energy supplies, with a significant portion of the world’s oil and gas passing through it.

Engagement with Global Leaders

Recognizing the seriousness of the situation, Prime Minister Modi has been in touch with several global leaders, including former US President Donald Trump, to discuss the crisis and its wider implications.
