“Our team was well involved in the match initially, and the bowling was also good. South Africa batted brilliantly from overs 7 to 15, but then we made a comeback. We maintained balance in bowling, but our batting could have been stronger. Sometimes you can’t win matches in the powerplay, but you can lose. We couldn’t form the kind of partnerships we needed. This is part of the game; we will learn from this and play more cautiously in the future.”
Suryakumar’s statement clearly indicates that the main reason for Team India’s defeat was the poor performance of the batsmen.
