ACB Action in Karauli: ₹3.7 Lakh Seized, Engineer Under Investigation

Karauli, Rajasthan: Acting on directions from its headquarters, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) carried out a surprise checking operation through its Karauli unit. The action led to the recovery of a significant amount of suspected cash from a government official.

Cash Seized During Search

During the checking on Bayana Road near Hindaun City, officials intercepted Mahendra Singh, posted as Assistant Engineer in Nagar Palika Anta, Baran district.

A search resulted in the recovery of ₹3,70,000 in cash. When questioned, the officer could not provide a satisfactory explanation or valid proof regarding the source of the money. The cash has been seized, and further inquiry is ongoing.

Intelligence Input Triggered Action

According to ACB Director General Govind Gupta, the bureau had received specific information that the officer had allegedly accumulated a large amount of illegal money.

The input also suggested that he was likely to travel to his residence in Hindaun City, Karauli district, carrying the cash either on Friday evening or Saturday morning.

Operation Led by Senior Officers

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General Rameshwar Singh. The field actions was led by Inspector Jagdish Bhardwaj and his team.

Senior officials, including Additional Director Generals of Police Smita Srivastava and S Parmila, are supervising the ongoing proceedings.

Case Under Anti-Corruption Law

As the officer failed to justify the possession of such a large amount, the ACB has seized the cash and initiated further investigation under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The accused is currently being questioned, and a detailed probe is underway to determine the source and legality of the recovered amount.

Investigation Continues

Officials stated that strict action will be taken based on the findings. The case reflects ACB’s continued efforts to act against corruption and ensure transparency in government functioning.
