Nepal : Sudhan Gurung has stepped down from his post on Wednesday following intense political pressure and public backlash. His resignation comes just 26 days after assuming office, marking one of the shortest tenures in Nepal’s recent political history.

The controversy erupted after allegations surfaced linking Gurung to controversial businessman Deepak Bhatta. Reports claimed that Gurung had business partnerships and questionable investments in micro-insurance companies.
Ironically, Gurung had taken a strong anti-corruption stance soon after becoming Home Minister. However, accusations related to his personal financial dealings quickly put him under scrutiny, leading to widespread criticism.

The resignation comes shortly after another major action by Balen Shah. On April 9, he dismissed Deepak Kumar Sah, the Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security, following disciplinary complaints.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Sah was removed after being found in violation of party code of conduct and discipline.
