Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh : A shocking incident has surfaced from the Rajgarh police station area, where a 40-year-old married woman was found in suspicious circumstances early Wednesday morning. She was discovered near a roadside culvert on the Gareri-Dhauraha route, close to Gareri village.
According to local sources, the woman’s hands and legs were tightly tied with rope, while her mouth had been covered and secured with a dupatta. Villagers also noticed a strong smell of petrol coming from her body, raising fears that an attempt may have been made to burn her.
Villagers Returning From Wedding Rescue Victim
The woman was spotted by villagers who were returning from a wedding procession during the early hours of the morning. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, they immediately rescued her and informed the police.
Rajgarh police reached the spot soon after receiving the information and took the victim into custody for safety and further legal proceedings.
Victim Identified as Sarita Singh
Police later identified the woman as Sarita Singh, a resident of Dixitpur in the Chunar police station area. She had reportedly been missing since April 30 and was found nearly a week later in this condition.
Investigators are now trying to determine who was behind the incident and what motive may have led to it.
Last Known Movements Under Investigation
Based on information gathered so far, Sarita Singh, who was associated with journalism and social commentary through YouTube, had left her home around 6 PM on April 30. She reportedly told family members that she was going to Narayanpur police outpost regarding advocacy linked to a person named Amit Sant.
Family members said she later informed them over phone that she had left the police outpost and was in Narayanpur market, and was planning to go to Adalhat police station afterward.
CCTV Footage Reveals Final Location
According to police sources, Sarita Singh was last seen around 8:30 PM that same night in Narayanpur market. Her presence there was reportedly confirmed through local CCTV footage collected during the investigation.
Police are currently examining all available evidence and possible connections related to her disappearance and recovery.

Sarita Singh was known locally for expressing opinions on social issues through her YouTube platform. The incident has sparked concern among people connected to journalism and digital media.
