Neha Jain Appointed KESCO MD After Yogi Adityanath Cabinet Expansion

Uttar Pradesh : After the expansion of the Uttar Pradesh cabinet led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, major bureaucratic reshuffles have also taken place across the state administration. Eight new ministers were sworn in, taking the total number of ministers in the state government to 60.

Ahead of the cabinet expansion, the government issued a series of transfer orders involving several senior IAS officers. Among the names that drew attention was Neha Jain, a 2014-batch IAS officer, who has now been appointed Managing Director of Kanpur Electricity Supply Company.

She was previously serving as Special Secretary in Uttar Pradesh’s IT and Electronics Department.

From Software Engineer to Civil Servant

Before entering public service, Neha Jain worked as a software engineer at IBM for nearly four years. However, her long-term ambition was to join the civil services.

She achieved success in her very first attempt at the UPSC examination, securing an impressive All India Rank of 12. Neha completed her B.Tech in Computer Science from Harcourt Butler Technical University.

Key Administrative Roles in Uttar Pradesh

Over the years, Neha Jain has handled several important administrative assignments in Uttar Pradesh. She has previously served as District Magistrate of Kanpur Dehat.

Her administrative experience also includes roles as Additional Executive Officer in UPSIDA, Additional District Magistrate in Lucknow, and Chief Development Officer in Firozabad. During her training period, she was posted in Agra.

Past Controversy During Kanpur Dehat Posting

Neha Jain’s tenure as District Magistrate in Kanpur Dehat also brought her into public discussion during a major controversy in 2023. During an anti-encroachment drive in the district, a tragic fire led to the death of a mother and daughter.

Around the same time, a video showing Neha Jain dancing surfaced on social media, triggering criticism from sections of the public. Some people, however, claimed the clip was old and was being circulated deliberately at a sensitive time.

Questions Raised Over Custodial Death Case

Another controversy during her administrative tenure emerged after the custodial death of businessman Balwant in Kanpur. The incident led to political criticism and raised questions about local administrative oversight.

Devendra Singh Bhole publicly expressed dissatisfaction over the situation, stating that the administration appeared to be functioning without effective control.

With her latest appointment at KESCO, Neha Jain once again finds herself in the spotlight as Uttar Pradesh undergoes significant political and administrative changes.
