New Delhi : The Central Government has appointed Prasoon Joshi as the new Chairman of Prasar Bharati. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting officially announced the appointment on Saturday.

According to the ministry, Joshi is widely respected as a creative professional whose work has left a deep impact across literature, advertising, cinema, and public communication. Known for his powerful writing style and strong cultural understanding, he has played an important role in shaping modern Indian media narratives.
His body of work includes memorable film lyrics, major advertising campaigns, and socially driven storytelling that has connected with audiences across the country.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw congratulated Joshi on his new responsibility and said his leadership would bring fresh energy and a new creative vision to Prasar Bharati.
The minister described him as an exceptional creative personality who has earned recognition in literature, advertising, art, and cinema not only in India but on global platforms as well.
Previous Role at CBFC
Before this appointment, Joshi had been serving as Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification since August 2017, where he played a key role in film certification and policy-related decisions.
Journey from Almora to National Recognition
Born in Almora, Joshi completed his early education before pursuing studies in management and communication.
Apart from his achievements in advertising and writing, he is also known for penning songs for several acclaimed Hindi films, including Taare Zameen Par, Rang De Basanti, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Fanaa, Hum Tum, and Black.
His songs are often appreciated for their emotional depth, patriotic spirit, and socially relevant themes.
