Why National Technology Day Is Celebrated on May 11
India observes National Technology Day every year on May 11 to honor some of the country’s most significant scientific achievements. On May 11, 1998, India successfully carried out nuclear tests under Operation Shakti. The same day also marked the maiden flight of Hansa-3, an indigenous aircraft developed in India.
To commemorate these milestones, former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee declared May 11 as National Technology Day, a day dedicated to celebrating India’s progress in science, innovation, and technology.
