Khaleel Ahmed, IPL 2026 : Chennai Super Kings have suffered a major setback in their IPL 2026 campaign as left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed has been ruled out of the tournament due to a hip injury. The injury comes at a time when the team is trying to regain momentum in the ongoing season of Indian Premier League 2026.

Injury Details and Timeline

Khaleel experienced discomfort in his right hip during CSK’s clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on April 14. After medical evaluation, it has been identified as a Grade 2 injury. Sources suggest that recovery could take around 10 to 12 weeks, effectively ending his participation this season.

Performance Before Injury

Before being sidelined, Khaleel Ahmed was an active part of CSK’s bowling unit. He featured in all five matches played by the team so far. Although he had a slow start, he began to find rhythm in the later games.

He went wicketless in his first three appearances against Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. However, he managed to pick up one wicket each in the following matches against Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders.

CSK’s Bowling Plans Affected

Khaleel’s absence leaves a noticeable gap in the CSK pace attack, especially as the team looks to stabilize its campaign. His ability to swing the ball early and contribute in crucial phases made him an important option for the side.

Record with Team India

On the international front, Khaleel Ahmed has represented India national cricket team in both ODIs and T20Is. He has played 11 One Day Internationals, claiming 15 wickets, and 18 T20 matches, where he has taken 16 wickets. His last appearance for India came in July 2024.
