Jammu Kashmir : A devastating road accident in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir has claimed the lives of 15 people. The incident occurred on Monday morning near Kagot village in the Ramnagar area when a passenger bus lost control on a hilly stretch and plunged into a deep gorge.
How the Incident Happened
According to officials, the bus was traveling from a remote village towards Udhampur. While navigating a sharp turn on the mountainous road, the driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and fall into the gorge.
Injuries and Rescue Efforts
Several passengers were injured in the accident, some of them critically. Emergency response teams, along with local residents, rushed to the scene and carried out rescue operations. The injured were quickly shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment, where a few remain in serious condition.

Police and administrative teams reached the accident site soon after the incident. Rescue and relief operations were conducted on priority, with authorities coordinating closely with locals to ensure timely medical assistance for the victims.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives. In an official statement, his office conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and concern for the injured.
Former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti also reacted to the tragedy, sharing her grief on social media. She extended heartfelt sympathies to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
