According to reports from Sputnik, the pact permits the deployment of up to 3,000 military personnel, 10 fighter aircraft, and 5 warships from one country to the other at any given time. This arrangement outlines the framework for the movement and presence of military units, naval ships, and aircraft between the two nations.
The agreement also includes provisions for logistical, technical, and operational support for visiting forces, ensuring smooth coordination during deployments.
Scope and Duration
The document reportedly consists of 21 articles and will remain valid for five years. If neither side raises objections, it will automatically be extended. The agreement officially came into force on January 12, 2026, though its full details were made public on April 18, 2026, through Russia’s official legal information portal.
Operational Use and Limitations
The deployment of troops and equipment will primarily be linked to joint military exercises, training programs, humanitarian missions, and disaster relief operations. However, strict limits have been set—no more than 3,000 personnel, 10 aircraft, or 5 naval vessels can be present in the host country at one time.
Both nations have also agreed to simplify airspace usage and facilitate easier access to each other’s ports.
