Trump Skeptical Over Iran’s 14-Point Proposal, Says Deal May Not Meet U.S. Expectations

US News : U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed serious doubts over a recently submitted 14-point proposal from Iran, indicating that the offer may not satisfy American expectations.

Speaking to reporters while aboard Air Force One in Florida, Trump said he would review the proposal soon but hinted that he was not convinced by what he had heard so far.

“It May Not Be Acceptable,” Trump Says

Later, on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump shared his initial reaction, saying that he would examine Iran’s proposal carefully, but added that he does not believe it currently appears acceptable.

In his statement, Trump also criticized Iran’s actions over the past several decades, saying the country has not yet paid a sufficient price for what he described as its impact on humanity and global stability during the last 47 years.

Trump Says He Had Not Yet Reviewed the Proposal

When reporters asked whether he had already seen the full 14-point document, Trump replied that he had not reviewed it yet and planned to examine it while on the aircraft. He told journalists that he would share more details after going through the proposal personally.

Clarifies Earlier Remarks on U.S.-Iran Strategy

Trump was also questioned about his earlier comments, which some interpreted as suggesting that the United States should consider stepping away from negotiations with Iran.

Rejecting that interpretation, Trump said his previous remarks were misunderstood. According to him, he had only meant that if the U.S. were to step away at this stage, it could take Iran nearly two decades to rebuild.

He emphasized that Washington is not planning to leave the process right now and instead wants to handle the situation in a way that would prevent future administrations from having to revisit the same issue after two or five years.

Focus on a Long-Term Solution

Trump concluded by stressing that the objective is to create a lasting arrangement—one that removes the need for repeated intervention in the future and delivers long-term stability in U.S.-Iran relations.
