Surouth, Karauli : On the occasion of Earth Day, a meaningful workshop was organized at the local Government College under the chairmanship of Nodal Officer Dr. Ritesh Kumar Jain. The event focused on raising awareness about environmental protection, with special emphasis on reducing plastic use.

Theme ‘Planet vs Plastic’ Takes Center Stage

The workshop revolved around this year’s global theme, ‘Planet vs Plastic.’ Speakers highlighted the growing threat of plastic pollution and stressed the urgent need for collective action to protect the environment.

Experts Share Valuable Insights

Addressing the gathering as the keynote speaker, Dr. Ritesh Kumar Jain explained the significance of Earth through references from Indian knowledge traditions. He emphasized that nature has always been revered in Indian culture, and reviving that respect is essential today.

Geography external examiner Meghram Meena also shared his perspective, underlining the importance of maintaining ecological balance. He pointed out that excessive exploitation of natural resources can lead to long-term environmental damage.

Focus on Sustainable Development

In his presidential address, Dr. Jain encouraged students to use natural resources wisely, stating that responsible consumption is the key to sustainable development. He motivated students to adopt small but impactful practices in their daily lives.

Students Take Pledge for Plastic-Free Campus

During the program, faculty members including Dr. Sachin Kumar, Govind Prasad Pathak, Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Dr. Jitendra Katra, Dr. Ambika, and Dr. Hardayal Dhakad also expressed their views on the harmful effects of plastic pollution.

At the end of the workshop, students, guided by the faculty, took a pledge to make the college campus plastic-free and to remain environmentally conscious. A large number of students and staff members actively participated in the event.

This initiative not only spread awareness but also inspired young minds to take responsibility for protecting the environment.
