Faridabad, Haryana : The Central Cyber Police Station team has arrested five people, including the main accused, in a fraud case involving ₹45,308. The accused have been identified as Bhagwan Singh (27), Deva Gurjar (21), Bijendra (25), Dheeraj (20), and Manish (20), residents of Karauli district, Rajasthan. They were arrested on May 8 from Lotus White Society, Jagatpura, Jaipur.
According to the police spokesperson, preliminary interrogation revealed that Bhagwan Singh was the kingpin of the gang. The gang members used to create fake profiles on Instagram and Tinder using women’s photos.
Whenever someone interacted with their profiles, they would first lure the victim, engage in sexually explicit chats, and when voice calls were required, Bhagwan Singh would allegedly speak in a female voice. Deva Gurjar, Bijendra, and Dheeraj were involved in the chats, while Manish arranged bank accounts for the gang.
In this case as well, the accused allegedly used the same method with the complainant and later posed as police officers over the phone to carry out the fraud. The accused were produced before the court and have been sent on four days of police remand.
It is worth mentioning that the case was registered at the Central Cyber Police Station based on a complaint by a resident of Old Faridabad.
According to the complaint, on January 20, he received a call from a person claiming to be a police officer, who threatened him with an FIR related to fraudulent transactions and sexually explicit chats. To avoid legal action, the complainant was allegedly pressured into transferring ₹45,308 to the bank account provided by the fraudsters.
