Dr KirodiLal Meena/ Rajasthan : A heartbreaking incident from Odisha has sparked outrage across the country. A tribal youth, Jitu Munda, found himself trapped in a web of paperwork and procedures after the death of his sister. What followed has raised serious concerns about the sensitivity of administrative systems toward vulnerable citizens.

Minister Expresses Deep Concern

Rajasthan government minister Kirodi Lal Meena expressed strong emotions over the matter. He said the suffering endured by the young man was deeply disturbing and reflects poorly on a society that claims to be humane. Calling it an example of harassment in the name of formalities, he urged the Odisha government to take strict and immediate action.

Meena also announced that he would donate one month’s salary to support Jitu Munda’s family.

The Struggle for Basic Rights

Jitu Munda, a resident of Keonjhar district, belonged to a financially weak family. After his sister’s passing, the money in her bank account was their only support. However, when he approached the bank to withdraw the amount, he was asked to produce a death certificate.

This requirement marked the beginning of his ordeal. He reportedly visited multiple government offices in an attempt to obtain the certificate, but each visit brought new complications and delays.

A Step That Shocked the Nation

Frustrated and mentally exhausted, Jitu eventually took an extreme step that stunned everyone. In a desperate attempt to prove his sister’s death, he went to her grave, exhumed skeletal remains, and carried them to the bank.

The shocking scene left onlookers speechless and quickly drew national attention.

Bank’s Response

Following the uproar, the bank clarified its position, stating that no harassment was intended and that the documents were requested strictly as per standard procedures.

Bigger Questions on the System

The incident has reignited debate over the complexity of government processes. Many are questioning whether rigid rules and documentation requirements are overshadowing basic human empathy, especially when dealing with economically weaker sections of society.
