Poll Schedule Announced

The elections for the 294-member state assembly will be held in two phases. The first phase of voting is scheduled for April 23, while the second phase will take place on April 29. The counting of votes will be conducted on May 4.

Focus on Peaceful and Clean Elections

While interacting with officials involved in the election process, the CEC stressed that the polls must remain peaceful and free from fear or violence. He also underlined that strict measures will be taken to prevent malpractice, ensuring the elections remain free from inducements and booth capturing.

Strict Monitoring of Officials

Officials stated that the Commission will not allow any employee of the state government, local bodies, or autonomous institutions to influence the electoral process in any way. Monitoring mechanisms have been strengthened to maintain neutrality at every level.

Political Reactions

The ruling All India Trinamool Congress has alleged that the Election Commission is acting under the influence of the Bharatiya Janata Party. However, the Commission has firmly rejected these accusations.

Appeal to Voters

Encouraging public participation, Kumar urged voters to come forward and cast their votes without fear. He emphasized that every citizen has the right to vote freely and confidently.

“Festival of Democracy”

Describing the elections as a celebration of democratic values, he said the spirit of voting should be embraced by all. “The festival of elections is the pride of West Bengal,” he remarked, urging citizens to take part wholeheartedly.
