Congress MLA Devendra Yadav MMS : In a significant development in the alleged MMS controversy, Congress MLA Devendra Yadav visited the Bhilai Nagar police station and submitted his photo and video samples to assist the ongoing investigation. The police have officially recorded and secured these samples as part of the forensic examination process.
The case falls under the jurisdiction of Bhilai, where the controversial video first surfaced.
Background: Video Surfaced During 2023 Elections
The issue dates back to the 2023 assembly elections, when an MMS clip went viral showing a man in a compromising position with a woman. At the time, the BJP alleged that the man in the video was Devendra Yadav and demanded a probe by filing a complaint.
However, Yadav strongly denied the claims, calling the video fake and an attempt to damage his public image.
MLA Calls It a “Morphed Video”
Speaking to the media before reaching the police station, Devendra Yadav reiterated that he had already filed an FIR nearly three years ago when the video first appeared.
He said the clip was deliberately circulated to mislead people during the election period and harm his reputation. He also expressed concern that the investigation has not yet reached a conclusion.
Notice Controversy Raises Questions
Yadav also raised questions over the timing of the police notice issued to him. According to him, the notice asked him to appear at 11 AM on April 6, but it was delivered to him only at 1 PM on the same day.
He criticized the process, questioning why such notices are sent with impractical timelines, while emphasizing that he has always been willing to cooperate in the investigation.
Demand for Fair Investigation
The Congress leader demanded a transparent and impartial probe into the matter. He stated that if investigations in similar cases involving other leaders can be handed over to agencies like the CBI, then his case also deserves a fair and unbiased inquiry.
Yadav concluded by saying that he is ready to provide full cooperation so that the truth comes out clearly before the public.
