Karauli : Teacher Helps Three Orphaned Children in Bamanpura Secure Government Aid

Karauli, Rajasthan: In a heartwarming act of social service, teacher Shubham Serwal of Mahatma Gandhi Government School in Bamanpura village, Surouth Tehsil, has helped secure government assistance for three orphaned children struggling to survive under the care of their elderly grandmother.

The children—Raj (8), Raj (12), and Tanishka (14)—lost their mother Meena Jatav six years ago, and six months back, their father Banwari Jatav passed away in a road accident near Akorasi Mod, Hindaun.

Their 70-year-old grandmother, Kesuli Devi, had been supporting them solely on her meager social security pension of ₹1,000 per month.

Teacher Steps In

Noticing the children’s lack of proper school uniforms, Shubham Serwal personally provided new uniforms and offered ongoing support.

  • “The entire family lives in a single small room. I have also given them financial help whenever possible,” the teacher said.

Shubham, originally from Targama, Bharatpur district, shared that his own father passed away in 2005 when he was five years old. Inspired by his widowed mother’s struggle to educate him, he was motivated to help children in need. Local resident Pintu Dagur also contributed to assisting the family.

Government Aid Through Palanhar Scheme

Following awareness raised on social media about the children’s plight, LDC Ravi and Hostel Superintendent Jitesh from the Social Welfare Department visited the school. Raj (12) and Tanishka were selected under the Palanhar Scheme, which provides a monthly allowance of ₹2,500 each. The younger Raj will also receive aid once his Aadhaar details are updated.

Additionally, for the upcoming academic session in July, each of the selected children will receive ₹2,000 separately for books and uniforms.

Community Support

The story gained widespread attention on social media, prompting Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) State President Shankar to visit the village, offering clothes and other support to the family. Local villagers and online users have praised the teacher’s compassionate efforts in ensuring a brighter future for the children.
