Sapotra, Karauli : A major issue has come to light regarding development work in the municipal area of the subdivision headquarters. It is alleged that the Panchayat Samiti, in the name of drain and footpath construction, showed the work as completed on paper, and received government funds totaling approximately ₹329,000, while not even a single brick was laid on the site.
According to information, approximately ₹1.75 lakh was sanctioned in 2021-22 under the Fifteenth Finance Commission for the construction of a drain from the subdivision office to the range office to drain water. The work was shown as completed on record, but local residents allege that no drain was constructed on the ground.
Similarly, approximately ₹1.5 lakh was sanctioned and paid for the construction of a footpath from the range office to the subdivision office, while no footpath was constructed on the site.
Locals say that the problem of waterlogging becomes severe during the rainy season. If the drain and footpath had actually been constructed, people could have received relief.
