Childhood and Education :
Sharan received his early education at the village government school. A lack of resources was a part of his life. For 11th and 12th grades, he had to walk 12 kilometers daily to school. There was no electricity in the village, so studying by lantern light was his daily routine. Despite difficult circumstances, his goal was clear: to change lives through education.
With a dream of becoming an engineer, he completed his B.Tech from Walchand College of Engineering. He then pursued post-graduation from the prestigious Indian Institute of Science. After completing his studies, he received a lucrative job offer with an annual salary of ₹20 lakh, a dream for any middle-class family.
Job or Civil Services:
Sharan Kamble’s dreams weren’t limited to financial stability. His father, Gopinath, dreamed of his son becoming an officer and serving society. Sharan chose the same goal. He turned down a high-paying job and moved to Delhi to begin preparing for the Union Public Service Commission.
Despite financial hardship, he passed the Maharashtra government’s scholarship exam, which provided him with ₹12,000 per month for eight months. This support gave him a new direction in his preparation.
Steps to Success in UPSC
In 2019, Sharan Kamble secured All India Rank 8 in the CAPF exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission. This was the first major result of his hard work.
Following this, he secured All India Rank 542 in the 2020 Civil Services exam and became an IPS officer. But his ambitions extended beyond that. In 2021, he took the Civil Services exam again, securing the 127th rank.
