Jaipur, Rajasthan : Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena has taken a strong stand after a major irregularity surfaced in the crop insurance scheme, calling the alleged fraud “an attack on the dignity and rights of farmers.
”Speaking on the issue, the minister said that the farmers whose hard work and dedication help feed the nation should never become victims of corruption. He described the misuse of farmers’ identities for financial gain as “deeply shameful and completely unacceptable.”
High-Level Investigation Ordered
Dr. Kirodi Lal Meena announced that a high-level investigation has been ordered into the entire matter. He assured that every individual found involved in the fraud will face strict legal action.

He stated that the government remains fully committed to protecting farmers’ rights and will not spare anyone responsible for exploiting schemes meant for the welfare of the agricultural community.

SBI Pallu Branch Under Scanner
The minister specifically referred to developments linked to the State Bank of India branch in Pallu, saying the facts that have emerged from the branch have caused serious concern.
According to him, the fraud linked to the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is not just a financial irregularity, but also a betrayal of the trust that farmers place in government welfare programs.
Fake Insurance Claims Worth Nearly ₹9 Crore
Preliminary findings suggest that insurance claims worth nearly ₹9 crore were allegedly prepared using the names of 66 fake farmers. The amount was reportedly scheduled to be withdrawn later this week, but the fraud was exposed before the transaction could be completed.
Calling it a major revelation, Dr. Meena said the case has exposed serious loopholes and those responsible will be brought to justice.
