India vs South Africa: South Africa set a target of 188 runs for India

Sports Desk : The Indian team began its campaign against South Africa in the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2026. South African captain Aiden Markram won the toss and elected to bat first in the match being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Early setback, then steady innings

South Africa didn’t have a strong start. Jasprit Bumrah, bowling accurately in the second over, gave India their first breakthrough by dismissing Quinton de Kock. Despite the early setback, the African team maintained composure and progressed the innings.

Miller’s stormy half-century

David Miller adopted an aggressive approach in the middle order. He reached his half-century in just 26 balls. During his innings, Miller rained fours and sixes, including a six to reach his fifty. This was his best score of the tournament.

However, after his half-century, his innings didn’t last long. Tilak Varma, stationed at long-off, caught him off Varun Chakravarthy. Miller played a quickfire innings of 63 runs off 35 balls.

South Africa’s competitive score

South Africa scored 187 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. The Indian team now faces a challenging target of 188 runs. The match is at a thrilling stage and a close contest is on the cards between the two teams.
