New Delhi: Chile’s Foreign Minister, Francisco Pérez Mackenna, has started his official visit to India, which will continue until May 15. The visit is being seen as an important step in strengthening diplomatic and economic relations between the two countries.
Meetings and Business Engagements Scheduled in Delhi
During his visit, Mr. Mackenna is scheduled to attend an official event in Delhi tomorrow. On Monday, he will participate in programs organized by the Indian Food Importers Forum and ASSOCHAM, where discussions related to trade and business cooperation are expected to take place.
Key Discussion With Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal
On Tuesday, Chile’s foreign minister will hold talks with Piyush Goyal, India’s Commerce and Industry Minister. He is also expected to attend the annual business summit organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry, bringing together business leaders and policymakers.
Trade Agreement Between India and Chile Moves Closer
The visit comes at a time when India has significantly expanded its global trade partnerships, signing eight free trade agreements with developed nations over the past four years.
Earlier this year, on January 30 in Greater Noida, Mr. Goyal had indicated that India is moving closer to signing a trade agreement with Chile.
Focus on Critical Minerals and Industrial Growth
Officials believe the proposed agreement could play a major role in securing critical minerals needed for India’s industrial expansion and long-term economic development. The discussions during this visit are expected to further shape the roadmap for stronger economic cooperation between both nations.
