Israel: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s testimony in his ongoing criminal trial has been postponed again, according to local media reports. The hearing, which was scheduled to resume on Monday after a two-month gap, was called off at the last moment.
The delay has once again pushed back proceedings in one of the country’s most closely watched legal cases.
Security Concerns Raised by Defense Team
Reports suggest that Netanyahu’s lawyer, Amit Hadad, requested the postponement, citing special security concerns before the court. Following the request, the court decided to halt the hearing.
However, no specific details regarding the alleged security risks or the next scheduled date for the testimony have been officially disclosed so far.
Previous Hearings Also Cancelled
Earlier, the Jerusalem District Court had already cancelled Netanyahu’s scheduled appearances for the week. The court accepted arguments from the defense citing security and diplomatic considerations.
Despite the cancellations, the court allowed another witness to continue giving testimony in Netanyahu’s absence. A hearing that was planned for Tuesday has also been cancelled.
Prosecution Opposes Delay
The State Attorney’s Office strongly objected to the repeated postponements. It argued that the Prime Minister should adjust his schedule according to court proceedings to ensure the cross-examination is completed without unnecessary delays, emphasizing that it is also in the public interest.

Case Linked to Bezeq–Walla Affair
The trial is part of the widely known Case 4000, also referred to as the Bezeq-Walla affair, considered one of the most serious cases against Netanyahu.
He is accused of allegedly approving regulatory benefits for businessman Shaul Elovitch’s Bezeq telecom company in exchange for favorable media coverage on the Walla news portal. Netanyahu has consistently denied all allegations.
He has also rejected claims involving former associate Shlomo Filber, including alleged instructions related to the case.
Trial Progress and Next Step
the case is currently in the cross-examination phase, which began in June 2025. Netanyahu first appeared in court to give testimony in December 2024.
With the latest postponement due to security concerns, further delays in the proceedings are expected, keeping the high-profile trial in the spotlight.
