New Delhi :The Punjab unit of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of trying to create divisions within the party by allegedly using the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to pressure its Members of Parliament.
Party spokesperson Baltej Pannu claimed that an atmosphere of fear was being deliberately created to weaken AAP from within.
Serious Claims Against Senior Leaders
Pannu went on to level direct allegations against senior AAP leader Raghav Chadha and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, suggesting their involvement in what he described as a larger political conspiracy.
According to him, Chadha was allegedly being used as a “pawn” in the entire episode. He further claimed that there was a promise of a ministerial position at the Centre in exchange for helping BJP weaken AAP in Punjab.
Claims of a Deal to Shift MPs
Pannu alleged that as part of this supposed arrangement, Chadha was asked to bring seven AAP MPs into the BJP fold. These claims, however, have not been independently verified.
Support From Party MP
Backing these accusations, Sangrur MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer also spoke out, alleging that Chadha had struck a deal with Amit Shah, which he said amounted to a betrayal of both Punjab and the party.
MPs Raghav Chadha, Sandeep Pathak, and Ashok Mittal will join the BJP. All three are Rajya Sabha members. Raghav Chadha said that the Aam Aadmi Party was not working for the country but for personal gain.
He added that the party, which was formed in the name of eliminating corruption, is now in the hands of compromised individuals.
