IPL 2026 : Lucknow Super Giants secured a five-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in a closely fought IPL encounter. Chasing a target of 157, Lucknow reached 160/5 in 19.5 overs, thanks to a composed and unbeaten knock from skipper Rishabh Pant.

Hyderabad Post Modest Total

Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed 156/9 in their 20 overs. Despite a few contributions in the middle order, they couldn’t build strong partnerships to push the total beyond reach.

Pant Anchors the Chase

Rishabh Pant played a captain’s knock, remaining unbeaten on 68 and guiding his team home under pressure. Coming in at number three—after opening in the previous match—Pant showed control and maturity to finish the game.

Mitchell Marsh also played a crucial role, scoring 45 runs and adding stability after an early setback.

Early Blow, Markram Keeps Momentum

Lucknow didn’t have the best start, losing Mitchell Marsh early to Ishan Malinga. However, Aiden Markram counterattacked with an impressive 45 off 27 balls, hitting six fours and two sixes. His innings helped regain momentum before he was dismissed by spinner Shivang Kumar.

Bowlers’ Effort for Hyderabad

For Sunrisers Hyderabad, Harsh Dubey picked up two wickets, while Ishan Malinga and Shivang Kumar claimed one each. Despite their efforts, the total proved insufficient to stop Lucknow’s charge.

Head-to-Head Record

With this win, Lucknow Super Giants improved their record against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Out of seven encounters so far, Lucknow have won five, while Hyderabad have managed two victories. Last season, both teams shared wins equally at 1-1.

Season Update

This victory marks Lucknow’s first win of the season, while Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered their second defeat in three matches.
